Oops! My Baby Is Early!

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

My first two pregnancies were not full term deliveries – the first was a six month, and the second a seven month delivery. The babys’ weights were 2.12 and 3.15 pounds, consecutively. You would think a small weight would lead to an easy pregnancy, but this is not so. There were factors that made the deliveries unlike a full term delivery.

My labor pains were harsh. The pains felt like someone kicking me in the stomach. I was attending USF with both pregnancies. My Mom and sister, Glenda came to the apartment to take me to USF to pick up my grades for the semester. This was June 11, the day I delivered my first child. This is also the birthday of the Man I Love, Edwin Ayala. Unbelievable! So magical! My Mom and Glenda were already in the car. I got into the car, and my first labor pain hit me. I growled. Glenda was asking me a question, at the same time. Glenda thought I was answering her question. She said, You don’t have to be such a grouch! I didn’t know it was a labor pain, at that time. They took me back to the apartment.

The pains begin to come in a timely manner. I went to Women’s Hospital. My total labor lasted for three hours (My labor was three hours also for my second and third babies.). The doctor was hesitant to rather the baby would live because not many six month babies survived in 1976. When the baby came out of the birth canal, the doctor replied, The baby is “sponky”! She was a miracle baby.

She resembled a frog when first born. The weight of close to five pounds was reached by my baby staying in the hospital for seven weeks. She was a beautiful baby girl. One nurse had growed very attached to her.

A problem noticed because of her long stay in the hospital was she reversed day and night. She would sleep during the day, and stay awoke at night. She also cried a great deal. I was still attending USF. The first year of birth was very, very rough. My loving Mom kept her during the day the first year while I attended school.

My second child had some other complications. I was at USF in a microbiology lab class. I was looking at a petri dish under a microscope when a sharp pain hit me. I knew exactly what it was. I was going into labor. I left the class and called my sister, Glenda. She came and took me to the University Community Hospital, the closest hospital around. They discovered that my baby was breech (feet first instead of head first). The ambulance took me to Tampa General, the hospital where I had registered to have my baby.

He was kicking hard and fast. Everything went fine. My son stayed in the hospital for almost four week. He was so cute and hairy. Years later, I discovered that he had tight tendons in the back of his heels. My son had surgery performed to correct the problem.

The events that led to my premature labors were: I walked to USF everyday from the apartment, carrying the books I needed for class. I was determined to finish school. Other individuals didn’t want me to finish. I am a very determined person when I want to accomplish a goal. I graduated from USF with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry.

Let me make mention that I became pregnant with my third child while still at USF. I went to the doctor and his recommendations were for me not to go to USF while I was pregnant, and to return after I have the baby. I did just that. I didn’t want to sit at the apartment. Instead I went and found a job. This was my first full term baby! View Your Product Available For Download.http://betterlifeinformation.com/pregnancy-baby/having-a-baby/

Quiet often we need to look within ourselves to become the person that would put themselves out their to give to the community, also have a look around at the people you see already volunteering their time and doing great things that benefit us all. What type of people are they? Look at how happy and fulfilled they are giving back to the community. You cannot make change simply by willing change you must first make the change in your mind. We have constant mental chatter which creates our life for us, as if it’s on auto pilot and is usually working against us. But when we realise and understand that these thoughts can be replaced with thoughts that serve us better. We can create our reality and you will be amazed at how our life can change.

Start by keeping a journal and record every hour what you are thinking. Change these thoughts around and look for the positives, focus on these and be grateful. This will help you move on.

Have a look at yourself and see what you can do to increase value in others. What can you do to give more value to others than what you take? Whenever you do this notice how you feel. After sometime have another look at yourself and see the change, if it works for you continue.

If you are always frantically trying to fix stuff outside of us remember the best way is to fix what’s inside of us. Get clear on what you want, how you want it and how it is better for the greater community.

Love what you do, things will evolve and change around you in time. Simply start by telling yourself a new story and you can rewrite your past. Take the journey where you want to go, be selective with these in your mind and it will gradually reshape your life. Create success in your mind first.

Take the time each day to visualise your goals and ideal life, this will help replace any unwanted thoughts and allow you to focus on being successful, you don’t need a lot of time to do this just 10 minutes a day is enough. You can visualise all manner of things including the kind and generous act of giving back to the community.

A great way of giving back to the community is through your business, whether you work for a boss or are self employed in a franchise, running a home business or a rep for a direct marketing company, or whatever, you could initiate a giving back programme that would benefit one of the many groups that needs help.

You can help the community in many ways by proving money to special projects around the world providing a greater good. That’s what we are here to do as spiritual beings, sharing our experience on our journey to Be, Do and Have. To create a better experience for those who come after us. Remember what you put in you mind will manifest. Give more value than what you take as you go about life.

Small Business Internet Marketing Local Businesses Advertising Online

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

Small Business Internet Marketing Local Business Advertising Online How to start small business internet marketing and local business advertising online is a question that many small and medium sized businesses are pondering as more and more consumers disregard Yellow Pages books and other forms of traditional print media and move online to discover what they are looking for.

You CAN Turn Your Small Business Into A Big Producer! Why Barely Make Ends Meet (Or Worse) When You Can Experience Massive Profits?

The Internet is dramatically changing the way we do business and all the major companies are dominating online advertising leaving small and medium sized businesses in dire need of an Internet advertising solution for connecting and interacting with local consumers who are moving online in record numbers.

Many businesses who have formed an online presence for themselves are quickly realizing that a pretty looking website does not equate to being found amongst the millions of websites online. Add to that the cost of dealing with designers and developers, and many businesses have no chance of competing in today’s Internet savvy communities.

One effective way is to make use of some of the many article and press release directories accessible online to announce your arrival into the online community. Providing concise informative information is the key here.

It is not about flogging off your business products but about providing solutions to consumer problems. Think about what solution your product or service can provide and write an article about that, not about your product or service, but what solution it can provide. Save the product details for the author’s resources box.

An additional way small and medium businesses are trying to compete is through pay-per-click (PPC) programs like Google Adwords. Unfortunately nearly all of the important target keywords and search terms have been become highly competitive and are usually cornered by key companies with huge advertising budgets. And, to add fuel to the fire, there are at this time real concerns about click fraud.

Is Click Fraud and PPC Advertising a Issue? According to Click Forensics, the overall industry average click fraud rate was 17.1% in the 4th quarter of 2008, up from 16.0% in the 3rd quarter of 2008.

The problem, which is not new, is companies get paid based on how many times users click on online ads. Fraudsters develop computer programs that simulate user clicks to drive up traffic, and artificially inflating revenue. -Source: Peak Solutions/SEO Since 1999

What this means is if you and I are real estate agents and I discover you are advertising on a pay-per-click search engine, I will get up at 6am and start clicking on your ad until I use up your daily budget to stop the ad from appearing on the search engine for the remainder of the day to increase the promotion of my classified ad on the same search engine.

What About Organic Search Optimisation? The most valuable form of search engine marketing is organic search engine optimisation or SEO as it is more commonly recognized. Internet keyword search studies confirm that keyword searchers have a preference for organic search listings 6 to 1 to the pay-per-click sponsored ads found at the top of the pages above or to the side the organic searches. But SEO is another story entirely and too long to cover here.

What About Geo-Targeted Advertising? However, new small business Internet marketing technologies and strategies are opening the way for small and medium sized businesses to succeed in their business advertising online and compete in this lucrative online marketplace. One of these strategies’ is geo-targeted advertising which is driving online shoppers back into local stores and into using local business services.

It works by identifying the online shopper, gamer or surfer’s IP address and pushing out advertisements for local businesses onto those websites. These ads can be seen popping up all over the place from major search engine pages and gaming sites to the increasingly popular social networking sites like YouTube, Facebook, MySpace and Boomj.Com and other high traffic sites like eBay and i-Supply.

So it’s not surprising that local has become one of the hottest terms in advertising. Attracted by the huge growth opportunities, all and sundry, including the world’s major technology, search and media companies, is gravitating to local business advertising.

Smart business operators are laser-targeting their advertising campaigns by selecting zip/postcodes suited to their business needs. This means their ads only show up on websites when and anywhere likely customers from their designated areas are online.

When the consumer clicks on an ad they are directed to, in many cases, a mini-website complete with text links, images, videos, discount coupons, and even interactive driving directions. Never previously have small and medium sized business owners had such real time control of their online branding features combined with a powerful local advertising presence.View Your Product Available For Download.http://betterlifeinformation.com/internet-marketing/marketing/

The Pros and Cons of Fad Dieting

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

It is very tempting to try that fad diet that you have found in the latest magazine that promises the world with fantastic fat losses without doing a thing. Just take a couple of fat burning pills follow the diet and then bang! A brand new you in a couple of weeks.

Don’t fall prey to Fad Diets that make Astronomical Promises! Fad Diets won’t make you Healthy and could even be Dangerous!

The sad fact is they do not work, they just provide more suffering in your efforts to lose weight, the only thing you lose is your hard earned money.

Firstly we will look at the latest fad diets on the scene at the moment, their pros and cons and then you will be shown how to save your time, money and unnecessary suffering by pointing you in the right direction for permanent weight loss.

The latest studies show that 90 per cent of fad dieters regained everything they had lost and even gained more within eighteen months.

The Atkins Diet.

The body burns carbohydrates and then fat for energy. This diet recommends limiting the intake of starchy, high carb foods so that the fat is burned first. So by eating meat, cheese and eggs and keeping bread and potatoes to a minimum, fat is lost.

Pros: Steak with cheese topping, Chocolate mocha ice cream and pork scratchings.

Cons: Studies show high protein diets lead to increased risk of heart disease, colon cancer, bad breath (halitosis) and constipation. Consuming more carbohydrate that can be used by the body will store this excess in fat cells.

The Zone Diet.

This diet claims to decrease hunger and boost energy by keeping your bodies eating habits in the zone or at its peak. This is done by keeping all your meals and snacks in the ratio of 40% carbohydrates, 30% protein, 30% fats.

Pros: Being a low calorie diet, you can’t help but lose weight.

Cons: Very difficult to adhere to the strict regime the diet requires. Will experience metabolism slow down because of low calories and will lead to starvation response which will eat away at the muscle tissue while retaining the fat.

The Blood Group Diet.

By having a blood test and determining your blood group, this then tells you how you can absorb nutrients, thus you can plan your diet accordingly. Different blood groups can eat different food groups.

Pros: Another calorie restricting diet so weight will be lost.

Cons: There appears to be little clinical and scientific evidence behind this diet and by the elimination of whole food groups important nutritional deficiencies are likely with long term health problems encountered.

The Ashram Diet.

This diet is basically a very low calorie diet (near starvation) which is coupled with a very high intensity exercise regime. A sample of this diet would include: One boiled egg for breakfast, a green salad for lunch and a baked potato with salsa for dinner.

Pros: A very quick weight loss, 10 – 15 lbs in a week (Mostly muscle tissue and water).

Cons: Fast weight loss leads to many unpleasant side effects such as bad breath, bone loss, constipation, deprivation of nutrients (vitamins and minerals), muscle loss, metabolism slow down, headaches and poor sleep. Who would want all these problems for the sake of quick weight loss where the weight will eventually be put back on and more in a couple of months?

The Hay Diet.

The main rule to follow for this diet is to not eat protein and carbohydrates together. Combination of these two foods together appears to prevent protein from being digested in the gut and can lead to an accumulation of toxins. Vegetables and fruit form the bulk of the diet with very small portions of protein and carbs.

Pros: Plenty of fruit and veggies in the diet means plenty of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.

Cons: There doesn’t appear to be too much scientific evidence about food combinations and by limiting yourself to certain food groups you will miss out on important nutrients.

All these diets work because of a drastic cut in calories, when this happens our metabolic rate can be brought down in a matter of 36 hours by as much as 50% which means your body is now burning only half of your calories. To compound matters further, hunger kicks in after a period of inadequate eating setting you up for over eating and binging.

Everyone is an individual so you have to be careful of diets that require you to set out what types of foods and quantities you have to eat at every meal. Just because a movie star lost weight on a fad diet doesn’t mean that you will. Before starting a weight loss program take into account your age, fitness levels, activity levels and medical history.

A real weight loss program includes all the food groups, strength training, low level aerobics, a slight decrease in your daily calorie levels and a program that can be followed for life.View Your Product Available For Download.http://betterlifeinformation.com/diet/weight-loss/

Having A Holiday Party For Christmas

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

During Christmas and the holiday season, the festive spirit and relaxed mood even extends into the workplace where the pace is likely to slow considerably as the volume of work is lessened. By having parties at work, everyone can unwind a bit, have some fun and enjoy the satisfaction from the results of a year of hard work. Colleagues at work can celebrate goals that have been accomplished and look forward to an even more rewarding year.

“It’s The Time Spent Together That
Make The Holidays So Memorable

Parties at work during Christmas and the holidays may include a voluntary gift exchange and individuals have to make a decision whether or not they will participate in it. In a situation where an individual may not know other colleagues very well and is unsure what Christmas present to give, it may be better to opt out of exchanging gifts. If the party and gift exchange is among a fairly large group, such as company-wide or of several departments, it may not be noticed if someone doesn’t participate in the gift exchange. If it’s a small group however, it is likely to be noticed. To eliminate the possibility of any negative talk regarding non-participation, it would likely be better to be among those agreeing to exchange gifts.

A basic thing to remember in selecting gifts for Christmas gift exchanges at work, which are usually called Secret Santa, is to not choose anything that could be considered inappropriate or offensive. Although the sender won’t be revealed, it won’t leave a good feeling and it will become the topic of conversation among everyone.

Separate from the ‘Secret Santa’ Christmas gift exchange at work, it may also be a good gesture to give Christmas presents, which can be small tokens or even just candies or treats, to colleagues in a division or department if you are the respective leader or manager. Such a gesture shows thoughtfulness and that the work of individuals has been appreciated. It will be a good note on which to end the year and to start a new one.

Another important thing to observe during Christmas parties at work is good behavior that is considered casual but still business-like. Although there will be much fun and laughter, it will still be occurring within a work environment or within the parameters of work. So, individuals will still be observed by their colleagues. It is of utmost importance to be careful about how much drinking is done, or how much alcohol is consumed, because drunken or any offensive behavior will not be tolerated and could have negative repercussions on one’s career.

The consideration of good etiquette is also something to be remembered and observed at holiday parties at work. As examples, talking and laughing with food in one’s mouth, emptying a platter of delicious hors d’ouevres or bagging candies, cookies or treats to take home are all considered poor etiquette. A Christmas party at work can also provide an opportunity to have a brief conversation with supervisors, managers and other company officials whom one may not come in contact with frequently. It can be the ideal time to leave a good impression on a key decision maker. By introducing yourself and striking up a conversation, it is also putting a face to a name or making yourself known and standing out among fellow colleagues. For those who are strivers and who want to advance such interactions at work holiday and Christmas parties can be beneficial and advantageous.

It’s therefore important to keep in mind that while Christmas parties at work are fun, there are still ways to inconspicuously seek some benefit while you laugh and enjoy a break from the stress, competitiveness and daily routine of work.View Your Product Available For Download.http://betterlifeinformation.com/family-occasions/homemade/

Self Defence and the 3 Stages of Street Violence

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

Training for a street confrontation is very, very different from training in sport based martial arts, or martial art competitions. It is equally fair to say it is very different from doing sparring or martial art drills in a dojo.

“Women, Defend Yourself Against Attackers And Aggressors Today!”

In a street confrontation there are no rules, no referees, probably no one there to break it up and do you seriously think you can tap out ? In this situation anything goes and you have to expect the unexpected.

So how can we properly train for the unexpected ? Your training needs to include realistic rehearsal training and must include techniques and strategies based on what is happening out there.

For reality based training to be effective you must be exposed to, and learn how to deal with three main conflict stages.

Stage 1 – Pre Fight

Most situations can be avoided before they even start provided your training includes strategies, tactics and realistic rehearsal. Developing awareness skills, threat assessment and verbal skills should all form the beginnings of your pre fight training. Learning how to avoid confrontations both physically and mentally is a critical part of any realistic self defence program.

Stage 2 – In Fight

This is the stage that a great deal of self defence courses and martial art schools focus on. The problem here is most of them are based on tradition, set sequences or just theory.

Remember earlier I said you have to expect the unexpected. Not one confrontation is going to be the same and using complex forms or patterns for a certain situation is very unlikely to work in reality. The conflict stage is very unlikely going to be just you and a single opponent and your training needs to reflect the complexities and varieties of situation you could face. Training to fight one opponent is no longer realistic. What about ways to fight criminals with weapons, dealing with gang attacks, muggings, rape attacks, robberies ?

Does your training deal with the different levels of force needed to handle these different levels of violence ?

Stage 3 – Post Fight

There are many areas that your realistic self defence training should incorporate here as well. This may be administering first aid, effective escape methods, ways recall attacker description and incident details.

At Practical Self Protection we are committed to, and focus on, reality based self defence training. We focus on state of the art techniques and training methods that give you immediate results.

If you are considering learning self defence why settle for anything other than the best. Here at Practical Self Protection you will train in a proven and tested system that is effective, realistic and relevant to the world we live in.

Take your training to the next level and keep your training real.View Your Product Available For Download.http://betterlifeinformation.com/women/self-defense/

How to Choose the Right Dog Breed For You

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

Although dogs have been domesticated for a long time now, their personalities still differ from one breed to the other. Chihuahuas are cute, but did you know that they are not suitable for families with small children, because of their territorial and impatient nature?

“Looking to Find B I G Fun, Rewards and Companionship in SMALL Packages?”

So how do you go about choosing the right dog breed for you?

You must sit down and carefully consider what your lifestyle is like, and how much time, money and space you can dedicate to your new companion. How you live and who you are as a person, will dictate what type of dog will suit your lifestyle, your own personality, and your accommodation. DON’T make the mistake many new dog owners make and just pick a puppy ’cause it’s real cute… you are likely to clash later…

Here’s a simple checklist of the most important considerations when choosing the right dog breed for you.

Your Living Arrangements

Do you live in a one-bedroom apartment or a house? If it’s the former, go with a small-sized pup like a Pomeranian or Toy Poodle. If your area is large enough for a medium or large dog, you can choose breeds among German Shepherd, Golden Retriever or even a Great Dane.

Your Family Arrangements

Do you have children or do you live alone? Some dogs work well with children like Golden Retrievers or Siberian Huskys. On the other hand, some dogs are aloof especially with children like a Chihuahua or a Yorkshire Terrier. You also have to take into account any pre-existing pets in your household. If you have cats or bunnies you need to make sure the new puppy you bring in is tolerating.

Activity Levels

If you’re the type who loves outdoorsy stuff like running or hiking, the best breed for you might be American Foxhound, English Setter or even a Standard Poodle. But if you’re the type who loves to stay at home and rest, these breeds might be suitable for your lifestyle: Chihuahua, Basset Hound or Pekingese.

Match the breed to your existing activity levels – be truthful with yourself. If you spend your nights infront of the TV, but you’d love to start walking in the evenings, don’t get an overly active dog in the hope that it will motivate you… These type of plans usually fail, and then you’re left with a dog that’s unhappy and destructive because it is bored and locked up most of the day – be realistic.

Grooming and Food Expenses

It’s kind of logical that large dogs consume large amounts of food and small dogs consume less. But you’d be surprised at just how much a Grate Dane needs to eat in a day. So when considering a dog breed, and you’re unsure of their food requirements, give your vet a call and ask him to advise you.

Another cost to consider when getting a pooch is how much grooming will he need. With some of the shorter coat dogs, you can do the grooming yourself. But dog breeds like Shih Tzu, Lhasa Apso, and the Yorkshire Terrier needs daily grooming – and at least monthly taking to the doggy parlor. So take into account the time and money you’re willing to spend on caring for your dog.

Trainability

Different dog breeds take different amounts of time to obedience train, so consider if you feel you’d want to train your puppy, or if you don’t really mind a whole lot.

Vet Bills

OK, taking a dog into your care is a big responsibility. You have to love it, feed it, groom it, but you also have to make sure its health care is also looked after. In that respect, cats are much easier to take care of.

Vet bills are a big chunk of what you will spend on your pooch over your joint existence, so you need to carefully consider if it is something you can afford month after month, and year after year. There’s nothing more heart-wrenching than having to let go of your beloved pet 5 years into your relationship, because you’re having to choose between vet bills and feeding your children.

Sounds extreme, but it is a serious point. Make sure you find out how much it will cost for vet visits, vaccinations, treats, and toys. Then consider taking pet insurance just in case something goes wrong and you need cash for treatment.

In conclusion – take your time to choose a suitable canine mate. Consider that your dog is likely to be a part of your life for the next 15 or even 20 years. That is pretty permanent – so don’t leave it to chance. Make sure your personality and lifestyle suites the dog breed you choose and you’re more likely to have a hassle-free loving and lasting relationship with your dog.
