5 Very Simple Tips to Handle Holiday Stress

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

This is such a happy and joyous time of year. Unfortunately it is also highly stressful and often depressing as well. What can you do? More than you might think actually. Try these 5 very simple suggestions to manage your holiday stress:

1. Get enough rest! This is hugely important. When your body lacks sleep, it is like running on empty. You feel awful and irritable. The easiest way for me to find extra time to rest is to turn of the TV and hit the sack a half hour earlier. Every bit counts.

2. Take your vitamins. This is the time of year when we overindulge on food, glorious food, and you know I’m not talking about raw organic vegetables. I take a women’s multivitamin, calcium, magnesium, and zinc green, tea extract, fish, flaxseed, and borage oil, and vitamin E. Check with your doc first though.

3. Get at least 20 minutes of daylight on your retinas every day. This is huge. This means go outside without sunglasses. Go get the mail, make a second trip for the newspaper, walk your kids to the bus, or walk Fido. Exposing your eyes to sun rays (yes, even on dark cloudy days) for at least 20 minutes a day is a natural antidepressant. This is a great way to stave the winter blues.

4 . Keep it simple. If you are entertaining, ask guests to bring a dish (less cooking). Put out half your Christmas decorations. Your kids won’t notice if the tree doesn’t have your hand blown glass heirloom ornaments. Decorate with the stuff they bring home from school or religion. This is the real treasure anyway. Bake 2 kinds of holiday cookies instead of the usual load and buy the rest if need be.

5. Practice giving every day. The more you give, the more you receive. This is a universal law. Give a smile to the grouchy deli guy. Silently wish happiness and abundance on everyone you encounter. Pay someone a compliment without expecting one in return. Also, by doing #1-4, you are giving to yourself. When you love and serve yourself, you can better love and serve others.View your product available for download here ..

Should I Shop Online For Christmas?

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

Many people ask “Should I Shop Online for Christmas?”. In this article, we will look at the advantages, and disadvantages, of shopping online for the holiday season and how you can combine retail stores with online stores to get the best deals on the best products.

Shop Safely Online At Christmas Time!

It is time to discuss shopping retail versus shopping online. And, since we are on the subject of time, let’s discuss watches and my friend Brad.

Since I do retail for a living, Brad wanted my perspective on some items that he was going to buy this Christmas. He wanted to know whether he should shop online or go to the stores and look for Christmas sales.

I asked him what he wanted to buy and he mentioned that he wanted a good watch. He was still using the same old watch that he had worn for the last 15 years. After many years of getting gifts for other people, he said that the one thing that he would like to buy for himself was a good watch.

“Should I shop online?” he asked. “And,” he added, “if I shop online, how will I get the feel for whether I really like the watch?”

Brad had just asked the most common online shopping question.

If we shop online, without physically holding the merchandise and trying it on, how will we know if we truly like the item?

I told Brad to physically visit the store, try on watches of all varieties, note the prices, and return to tell me of his findings. He did just that and came to my house directly afterward.

He found a Tag Heuer watch in the mall at a boutique watch store and said to me: “I absolutely have to have this particular watch. It looked great. I love it!” I had rarely seen Brad so excited about a gift.

He mentioned that the watch was rather price-prohibitive at more than $1500 while his wife did not want him to go over $1000.

Thus, we set a goal of finding the exact same watch at a much better price. We found a site a Watch Store Online offering the very same watch for just under $1000, a savings of more than $800, or about half the price of the boutique store.

Feeling guilty, Brad called the boutique store to find out if they could come close to the online price. They said that they could take $200 off but could not meet the online price so Brad bought the watch online.

In this instance, Brad combined retail and online shopping to get the perfect gift at a great price.

Often though, you do not need to visit the retail store to find out more. There are many items that receive stellar reviews, and are so well-known, that you know you are getting the best quality. For example, if you are looking for the Best Toys for Christmas, you usually do not need to visit the retail stores. Toys receive hundreds, and sometimes thousands, of independent reviews and so you can know the product without seeing it.

People usually ask “Should I shop online for Christmas?” because they are unsure whether the online experience can match the retail experience. As you can see, the two can be combined to obtain the best gifts at the best price.View your product available for download here ..

In most cases the artist either had the ability naturally or sat down and practiced until the cartoon came to life on it’s own. Drawing a funny cartoon is a lot like creating a piece of art, depending on what you have in mind depends on how you will proceed.

Take for example an animal, first if you ever take the time to stop and look most animals look a lot like each other. One example of this is horses and cows. Both of these animals stand up so it would be a good place to start with drawing the legs first.

After you have drawn the legs then it comes time for your most important tool to come into play, it’s time to use your imagination. After you have drawn the legs it’s now time to let your mind wander and experiment with various things to make your cow or horse take on that comedic effect.

The one thing that you need to remember is that all drawing consist of is drawing lines in a way to form a picture. So if you can draw a straight line you can draw a cartoon that will make your friends laugh. One of the best examples of letting your mind be set free when it comes to drawing is the cartoon show Family Guy. After all has anyone seen a baby with a football shaped head, of course not that was the creation of a person who sat down and started to explore the world of drawing and it turned into something very funny.View your product available for download here ..

Having A Holiday Party For Christmas

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

During Christmas and the holiday season, the festive spirit and relaxed mood even extends into the workplace where the pace is likely to slow considerably as the volume of work is lessened. By having parties at work, everyone can unwind a bit, have some fun and enjoy the satisfaction from the results of a year of hard work. Colleagues at work can celebrate goals that have been accomplished and look forward to an even more rewarding year.

Parties at work during Christmas and the holidays may include a voluntary gift exchange and individuals have to make a decision whether or not they will participate in it. In a situation where an individual may not know other colleagues very well and is unsure what Christmas present to give, it may be better to opt out of exchanging gifts. If the party and gift exchange is among a fairly large group, such as company-wide or of several departments, it may not be noticed if someone doesn’t participate in the gift exchange. If it’s a small group however, it is likely to be noticed. To eliminate the possibility of any negative talk regarding non-participation, it would likely be better to be among those agreeing to exchange gifts.

A basic thing to remember in selecting gifts for Christmas gift exchanges at work, which are usually called Secret Santa, is to not choose anything that could be considered inappropriate or offensive. Although the sender won’t be revealed, it won’t leave a good feeling and it will become the topic of conversation among everyone.

Separate from the ‘Secret Santa’ Christmas gift exchange at work, it may also be a good gesture to give Christmas presents, which can be small tokens or even just candies or treats, to colleagues in a division or department if you are the respective leader or manager. Such a gesture shows thoughtfulness and that the work of individuals has been appreciated. It will be a good note on which to end the year and to start a new one.

Another important thing to observe during Christmas parties at work is good behavior that is considered casual but still business-like. Although there will be much fun and laughter, it will still be occurring within a work environment or within the parameters of work. So, individuals will still be observed by their colleagues. It is of utmost importance to be careful about how much drinking is done, or how much alcohol is consumed, because drunken or any offensive behavior will not be tolerated and could have negative repercussions on one’s career.

The consideration of good etiquette is also something to be remembered and observed at holiday parties at work. As examples, talking and laughing with food in one’s mouth, emptying a platter of delicious hors d’ouevres or bagging candies, cookies or treats to take home are all considered poor etiquette. A Christmas party at work can also provide an opportunity to have a brief conversation with supervisors, managers and other company officials whom one may not come in contact with frequently. It can be the ideal time to leave a good impression on a key decision maker. By introducing yourself and striking up a conversation, it is also putting a face to a name or making yourself known and standing out among fellow colleagues. For those who are strivers and who want to advance such interactions at work holiday and Christmas parties can be beneficial and advantageous.

It’s therefore important to keep in mind that while Christmas parties at work are fun, there are still ways to inconspicuously seek some benefit while you laugh and enjoy a break from the stress, competitiveness and daily routine of work.View Your Product Available For Download.http://betterlifeinformation.com/family-occasions/homemade/

Top Christmas Toys 2008 – A Guide

Friday, September 4th, 2009

It’s that time of year again… The weather changes, the holiday music is playing, and Christmas cheer is starting to spread. Are you ready? The mad rush to get the hottest toys for Christmas can be quite overwhelming. This article can serve as a guide to help you get your shopping done early (And maybe even online) without facing down the mobs of shoppers, and desperate rush for parking spaces.

So what are the Top Christmas Toys for 2008?

Nintendo Wii Fit
Here it si folks. The undisputed heavy-weight champ for 2008. Even before Halloween has been celebrated, shoppers are already camping out in long lines hours before stores open to get the Nintendo Wii Fit.

Why is this so darn popular? It’s fun, it’s healthy, it’s engaging. With the Nintendo Wii fit, you can actually enjoy your time spent getting a workout! With many fun and challenging games (Oh yea, it tracks your weight and progress too by the way…) that feel more like recreation than workout, you won’t have to be told twice that it’s time to get some exercise.

Wow! How many Christmas gifts can make that claim! (No spending $1,000 on a “never used” treadmill again!)

Eyeclops Night Vision Goggles
Gosh I’m jealous! Why did all the coolest toys have to come out after I stopped being a kid? These things are amazing. Not just a gimmick, these goggles actually allow the wearer to see more than 50 feet in front of him/her just like you see in the movies and video games.

The Eyeclops Night Vision Goggles definately deserve a spot in the top 3 for top Christmas toys! THe manufacturer saw fit to make these goglles adjustable to the point they fit adults too! You’ll see. Once out of the box, you cannot help but try them out! The only drawback is night time can’t seem to come fast enough!

Pleo Dinosaur
Pleo has put together quite the amazing toy! Here’s a dinosaur who comes with artificial intelligence, and actually learns new tricks, and develops his mannerisms based on how you interact with him! Amazing isn’t it?

Pleo responds to verbal commands, touch, petting, and much more! He’ll even happily munch on “leaves” (Artificial of course) that come with the package after he senses you placing them near his mouth. Once the kids get their hands on this hot item, you’ll quickly see why it’s listed as one of the top Christmas toys for 2008.

FurReal Friends
Some marketing expert somewhere had a flash of genius with this toy. Why not create a “pet dog” without all the mess and hassle of cleaning up after him? What child doesn’t want a happy new puppy? Unfortunately, this is not always realistic for various reasons.

While not a true substitute for the real thing, the FurReal Friends Biscuit My Lovin Pup is definately head and shoulders above all the other plush toys on the market. This happy pup will sniff his bone, playfully growl, whine, pant, and responds to verbal commands such as “stay” and “sit” and many more.

It also helps that the pup is pretty darn cute as he moves his ears and changes his expression when you pet, or scratch his head. This one has been flying off of store shelves already!

Nerf N Strike Vulcan
I gotta tell ya, this is the most cost effective fun I’ve had in a long time! While I don’t personally fall within the age demographics of the Nerf N Strike Vulcan; I couldn’t help myself and had to go buy this thing. It’s a blast! Coplete with a tripod, and fully automatic fire, this is one of Nerf’s coolest toys yet!

The ammo is fed into the gun with a belt feeder, just like you see in the movies! The tripod firing mount allows you to place the gun strategically and “guard the door” waiting for your opponent to unknowingly walk right into your line of fire! Haha – Yes, I know I’m just a big kid. I can’t help it with something this fun begging me to play!

The greatest feature yet though is the price. With many Christmas toys tipping the scales at $70 – $100+, the Nerf N Strike Vulcan comes in at around $40. Not bad for a toy this fun!.View Your Product Available For Download Here

Computerized Christmas Light Displays – 9 Tips to Make Your Computerized Christmas Display a Hit

Monday, August 31st, 2009

Think back to when you were a child, everyone remembers that one house every Christmas that was completely decked out with Christmas lights. Every year you couldn’t wait to visit “that” house. For many families it becomes part of their family tradition to visit these extraordinary Christmas Light Display.

As technology has progressed, and computers have become an integral part of our society, would you expect anything less than to see them incorporated into our elaborate Christmas Light Displays? Below is a list of key topics you will want to consider when planning a computerized Christmas Light Display.

1. Plan your display on paper – It is a good idea to draw your display out on paper. Research different elements you would like in your display and arrange them in a diagram. This will give you an idea of the way your display will be viewed by visitors. You also need to map out your extension cords and where all your cords will be ran to avoid any danger or trip hazards.

2. How much power will your display require? – Power is always an issue when creating any large display. By drawing your display out on paper, you will have a good idea of the number of lights your display will require. Read the manufactures label to see how many amps each stand of lights will require. You want to make sure you have enough power and not create a fire hazard or any other dangers by overloading your circuits. It is very important to not overload any extension cords, outlets, or circuit breakers.

3. Where to purchase your lights? – Hands down, the best time to purchase lights is during after Christmas sales. All your large department stores always have lights left over after Christmas. Wake up early on December 26th and head out to find all those bargains. You will be able to purchase your lights at 50% off or cheaper. If that is not a option, those same department stores usually have the cheapest lights. They are not professional grade, but will work for residential display and they are very cost effective.

4. The use of computerized light controllers – You will need a computer and a Christmas light controller. There are several companies that offer pre-assembled circuit boards that will allow you to animate your display. Do your research and find the company you feel will suit your needs the best. Each company also offers software that is compatible with their controllers. All the software products are user friendly and with a little practice you will be efficient in no time.

5. Synchronizing the light show to music – Synchronizing your display in the software application is by far the most time consuming task of all. Each minute of a song will take anywhere from 3 to 10 hours to synchronize correctly. You will also be able to create a animation window in the software that will give you an idea of how your display will appear in real life. There are many different effects you can apply to your display. Such effects as shimmer, fade up, fade down, twinkle, or intensity control are all great effects that add magic of your display.

7. Think outside the box – Be creative with your display. Since the creation of computerized light displays, the effects that are possible are endless. Get creative… One idea I really like it installing more than one color of lights on a tree. Say for example, you install a strand of clear lights, a strand of red lights, and a strand of green lights all on the same tree. With the controller you can control which stand of lights are on at a time. This will allow you to change the colors of every tree in your display. This technique can also be applied to your house, bushes, etc…..

8. Allowing plenty of time to install the display. – Allow yourself plenty of time to install your display. When you create a computerized display, you will greatly increase the number of extension cords you will need. All this requires a great deal of time to install. You want to make sure everything is safe and clean looking. Don’t just throw your lights around. Make sure your lights are installed with clips or the appropriate hanging devices. A sloppy installation job will greatly distract from all the other hard work you have put into your display.

9. Dealing with traffic issues – One thing to consider when creating a computerized display is TRAFFIC… People want to sit and watch your display. If you live on a busy street, you might want to consider how traffic will flow to and from your display. It is a great idea to put a voiceover in between each song reminding visitors to not block neighbors driveways, allow the right of way for neighbors, and turn their headlights off while viewing the display. Also, if traffic becomes a problem, it is a good idea to limit your display to one song. After a person hears a song and it starts to play again, they will usually drive off because they have already heard the song.

Following the tips above, will help guide you to a successful and enjoyable computerized Christmas light display. Remember, don’t get stressed. The display should be fun and you need to enjoy every step along the way to creating your ultimate Christmas light display.View Your Product AVailable For Download Here..
